Includes a letter typed by Harry Godwin (it mentions his student, Duncan Poore) and addressed to the author asking for a copy of the book to be sent to the British Nature Conservatory and dated 1966.

Signed inside by the author and also contains the signature of Harry Godwin (1901 - 1985), prominent English botanist and ecologist of the 20th century. He is considered to be an influential peatland scientist, who coined the phrase "peat archives" in 1981.
