Nagel was the first to publish a tourist guide dedicated to the Moon, the 175th of the Nagel Guides, the only one to be illustrated. It deals with the history of selenology (the scientific study of the moon or lunar history) through the ages, the chronological evolution of knowledge about our natural satellite, from its historical origins to the present day, and the testimonies of ancient thinkers, scientists and enlightened amateurs from different eras. Numerous illustrations (works, scientific sketches, engravings, photographs) allow us to discover the topography and surface of the Moon, and offer the reader a first incursion into the cosmos .
