John Herschel Glenn Jr. was an American Marine Corps aviator, engineer, astronaut, businessman, and politician. He was the third American in space, and the first American to orbit the Earth, circling it three times in 1962. He served as Senator for Ohio from 1974-1999.  This letter was written during his time as a senator to a constituent requesting more information on the SALT II Treaty.
