Motorcycles. Unlike most other motorcycle marque histories, the Rudge story is not one of outstanding success. It is one of missed opportunities and no small amount of bad luck, which led to the ulitmate demise of the company in 1939. Lack of success does not condemn the Rudge motorcycle, for the Company and the machines had charisma even in their own time. The loss of such a familiar name was felt throughout the industry as a whole and especially by the more discerning motorcyclist of the day who idolised the Rudge Ulster and all that it represented.
