Winson, a small village in the Cotswolds, is an agricultural community remarkable for the quiet continuity of its way of life. The village has never made history: it has produced no princes, statesmen, musicians, reformers or inventors of international or even national renown, and yet the slow changes it has undergone reflect those of a world beyond its boundaries.
This book seeks to trace the history of the village from the Iron Age period to the outbreak of the First World War. It does not pretend to be exhaustive: there are further sources to be investigated and more to be learned. It is the author's hope that someone else in future years will take up the story and complete it.
