King Penguin Books was a series of pocket-sized monographs published by Penguin Books between 1939 and 1959. They were in imitation of the Insel-Bücherei series published in Germany by Insel Verla. They were pioneer volumes for Penguin in that they were their first volumes with hard covers and their first with colour printing
