Survivals of Mayan Religious Ritual. In order to record the existing religious customs of the Mam Indians of Guatemala, the author spent two years in the remote village of Todos Santos, high in the Cuchumatanes Mountains. Here the original Mayan calendar survives and the Indians of this community still sacrifice as did their Mayan ancestors to the ancient gods and here, in symbollic contrast, stand the two crosses of the Indian and of the Spanish ladino.
