The work contained a myriad of anecdotes about historical persons and events, unusual books, and the habits of book-collectors. The work was very popular and sold widely in the 19th century. This is the second to last work to be edited by D'Israeli himself.

Very Good condition, well bound in leather with light to moderate wear, some thinning and rubbing. Corners bumped and rubbed. Gilt decoration around edge of board worn in places. Interior s clean with minimal foxing. Includes one Fold-Out Map
