A collection of Tennyson's most cherished poems. Tennyson was Poet Laureate of the United Kingdom during much of Queen Victoria's reign. In 1829 he was awarded the Chancellor's Gold Medal at Cambridge for one of his first pieces, "Timbuktu". Bound in tan cloth th elaborate decorations and design along the cover and spine. Plain back cover. Some text and gilt faded, corners bumped and rubbed. Edges of spines fraying. Interior lightly shaken, but still sturdy. With minimal foxing. Tissue guard for frontispiece crumpled, but present. All in all a very good copy.
