1856 Collection of Poems and Signed Letter from James Russell Lowell

Accompanied by a volume containing proofs of various poems, including one by Lowell and one by Audubon. An inscription notes the poems are waste sheets from the Queen's Printing Office in Edinburgh. 

A note signed by American Romantic Poet James Russell Lowell is tucked in the front page and is dated later. Apparently the owner was quite an admirer and collector of poems. Some poems illustrated.

Bound in simple board with cloth spine and marbled papers. Front board detached. Marble paper has chipped in some place revealing board. Interior well bound and clean excepting markings in pencil from previous owner correcting and establish his own page order. A very unique item!
